As a glass etcher I am always looking for new ways to create my pieces. My best source is always Michaels Arts and Crafts. Quite simply, they have everything I need. It isn’t just glass etching supplies either.
They run free to inexpensive classes in all fields of arts and crafts. One year I made Christmas Ornaments for the whole family for less than a dollar per ornament with the supplies I bought from this excellent store. They were a first attempt and came out great with the employee’s assistance. When my daughter married two years ago, we bought every single thing we needed, except clothes there.
My granddaughter is learning to scrapbook. Away we go! My husband is nearing retirement and I’m always looking for a hobby for him. This place has everything. I think he’s finally settled on digital photography for a hobby. We can print his photographs and frame them with supplies from the same place. We don’t have to run around the world finding what we need. With today’s gas prices that is a tremendous bonus.
All types of fabric art are available as well. They carry and excellent selection and quality of yarns, threads, needles, hoops, and racks for all types of work. The employees at Michaels Arts and Crafts often create things using supplies from the store. I was in there once and saw the most beautiful hand sewn quilt. It was made all of velvet pieces and silk ribbons. I wanted to buy it but it wasn’t for sale.
Painters work in a variety of mediums including acrylics, oils, and watercolors. I’ve even seen some great art in a type of wet chalk and another in tempura paint. It’s all here, the paints, canvases, brushes, knives, and cleaning supplies, even books to begin painting or to improve your painting.
All of this only scratches the surface of what you can do. Michaels Arts and Crafts carries seasonal craft supplies to brighten your home and make the holiday something just a bit more special. I can’t wait to make Valentines with my granddaughter this coming year with supplies from Michaels. It’ll be fun to create our own unique and quirky ways for her to tell her classmates and teachers how much she enjoys being with them.
I’ve been to other arts and crafts stores and even frequented hardware stores for some of my projects. This is the only place where I know I’ll find what I need, whether I want to try my hand at painting, crochet, or floral arrangements. In fact, I often have a hard time getting my husband out of the woodworking section. He wants to try making wooden models but doesn’t feel he’ll have time until he retires.
