About Hang Tags
A hang tag is an informative tag that you attach to an item for sale, or it may have other relevant information about the item it is attached to. Traditionally a hang tag is tied on and “hangs” from the item. There are lots of things you can use to make your ties with. It would get you thinking creatively to go to a craft store or a fabric store and cruise the aisles where you’ll see many beautiful types of rustic yarn, embroidery threads, and gold metallic ribbons. Depending on the look you are going for, pick something that compliments your tags. You can tie a pretty bow for a larger splashy effect. For an understated tie use something simple like embroidery thread and just tie a small knot.
Other ways to attach your tags are a tagging gun, a safety pin, or simply enclose it in a smaller part of your item by tucking it in.
Another reason for a hang tag is to tell a story that is important or interesting to that unique piece. Crafters in-the-know use hang tags on all of their handmade or handcrafted items and would not have it any other way. Add contact information on your tag for future sales. A phone number, email address or website is fine. If your address is a post office box that’s OK, but don’t put your home address on the tag. There is no reason for everyone to know where you live.
