Want to know how to add personality to your scrapbook? This is partially done by the pictures, embellishments and scrapbook layouts you use. But to complete this you need to add scrapbook page titles, words and captions. These allow you to fully convey to your reader what you were thinking and feeling when you made the scrapbook.

My family has been fairly active in making scrapbooks. I have some from the turn of the 19th century. Unfortunately they weren’t into adding scrapbook page titles or words to the pages. So for a number of the pictures I really don’t know who I am looking at. I know they are family but that is about it. I’m sure that my ancestor who made the scrapbook would find this to be disappointing.

Before you start putting pictures onto the pages of your scrapbook take some time and decide which titles you will be using. You can also add in captions, poems and sayings to add even more personality to your scrapbook. The titles and other words you add convey the theme of the scrapbook.

The title can be as simple as a date or word for and event. However you can make these in interesting by also including poems, quotes, sayings and phrases. To get an idea here are some examples:

  • Daddy’s Baby Boy / Girl
  • She will fill our lives with sunshine
  • They call me trouble
  • Playtime pals
  • 29 and holding
  • Every page I scrap is a tiny piece of history
  • Old scrappers never die, they just punch out!

The scrapbooking page titles don’t have to overly impressive. You shouldn’t be spending tons of time on them but do spend enough time to let your future readers know what you were thinking and feeling.

Can you print out your own picture or sayings like vellum stickers for scrapbooking?

I was wondering if there is any paper that you can put in your inkjet printer and then transfer the sayings or pictures to your scrapbook paper. If so, what is the name of the particular paper and do you need any other supplies? Thanks

Fill up a sheet of copy paper with as many sayings ( leaving a border all the way around ) that you can fit. Make a copy of this on a sheet of vellum paper. Now apply this paper to a sheet of archival adhesive paper which you can get in a craft store. As another answerer mentioned, a Xyron machine is wonderful for this. Run the whole sheet through. Once the adhesive is applied, you can cut out the saying you want to use. You simply peel off the paper backing. This machine might seem expensive in the beginning but if you do a lot of scrap booking, it’s worth the investment. Look for it to go on sale at Michale’s or A.C.Moores or use their 40% off coupon. You can apply the adhesive to anything you want, from ribbons to photographs.
